ACCREDITED BY NAAC WITH "A+" GRADE
The society was established in the early 1970s and was known as the 'Paint and Brush Society'. In early 1980s, the society's name was changed to 'IRIS, the Fine Arts Society'. The Society presently has more than 50 members. The Society aims at the holistic development of the students by giving them a platform to nurture their artistic talent away from a conventional sense and encourages students to participate in various art activities inside and outside the college. The society provides an opportunity to redefine and reshape the concepts and experiences into some or other form of art.
Some of the main events conducted by this society across the year are: Talent hunt (A fresher’s competition organised for JMC students only to showcase their talents), Promptober (organised in the month of October divided in four weeks and each week has a different prompt), Diwali competition, Beaux Arts (our annual festival as a part of Montage), and a grand closing of the session with an Art Exhibition!
As the Fine Arts society, we are also known to conduct various art related workshops each year whether in an online or an offline mode. Some of the examples are Mandala Art workshop by Palkin, Origami Workshop by Carla, Brush Calligraphy Workshop by Devanshi Juneja, Basics of canva by Vikas Roy. The fine arts society is well recognised for its contributions towards various events organised by college events including Rangoli making and MPH decor for NAAC visits, PTSA, Independence Day, farewell, etc.
A 'Talent Hunt' is held at the commencement of the academic session to explore the budding artists. The event is open for participation to the first year students of the college. This is followed by a number of Fine Arts Competitions - Sketching, Poster-making, Card-making, Folder-making, Calligraphy, Cartooning, etc- in which all students participate in large numbers. The society also holds “demonstrations” on not only different forms of art but also handicrafts- fabric painting, flower-making, pottery-designing, thread work, etc. As a part of Montage, the Annual Cultural Festival of JMC, Fine Arts Society under the nomenclature BEAUX ARTS, conducts various art-related competitions, like Sketching, Painting, Grafiti, Collage-Making, Wealth out of Waste, Rangoli- making, Face Painting, Puppet-making, Poster- making, Calligraphy, Mannequin-dressing, and other art & craft related competitions.
