Student Grievance Redressal Cell

The Cell has been constituted in accordance with the UGC guidelines for student grievance redressal mechanism at the college. It comprises of the Head of the Institution/ The Principal, two members of the staff and one student representative.

The Committee attends to the grievances of the students and offers redressal of the same in a time bound and effective manner. It provides a platform for the students to lodge a grievance online*. There is also an offline provision for the students to leave their written complaint in the complaint box kept in the college building.

It is meant to help in enhancing students’ experience at the College and is committed to providing student support in a transparent and student centric mode. Student grievances are attended to promptly, to ensure an empowering and fulfilling learning environment for all the students of Jesus and Mary College.

Internal Complaints Committee

Strict policy framework against sexual harassment is imperative to ensure a conducive and secure environment for growth and development of students.The college has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee in accordance with the guidelines delineated by the UGC and notifications issued by the University of Delhi pertaining to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressed) Act, 2013 (Link 3 & 6). The committee ensures a conducive and secure environment for growth and development of students.

Women’s Studies Centre

The college also has a vibrant Women’s Studies Centre which sensitizes faculty and students to a range of gender issues. The Women’s Studies Centre at Jesus and Mary College aims at providing an intersectional approach towards creating awareness and educating the undergraduate students about the Women’s Movement.

In order to safeguard the interest and ensure the rights and safety of the SC/ST students, the college has given provision for the students to leave their written complaint in the complaint box kept in the college building. North East Society – Ethnic 8

The North East Society specially look into any specific problems faced by the students from the North-Eastern states of the country. The aim of the society is to provide a harmonious environment on the campus to these students, so that they feel at home and can learn better. The students from these states showcase their culture and display their talents in the annual cultural festival as well as other college events.

Discipline Committee

Maintaining discipline and order is imperative to create a healthy work environment which is conducive for the smooth and effective functioning of an educational institution. With this in mind the College has constituted an Internal Discipline Committee which plays a role in maintaining overall discipline and decorum on campus. It also attempts to resolve individual cases/complaints in this regard, as and when required.

Minority Cell

Minority Cell of the College is meant to empower the minority communities in the college. This is a mechanism which offers assistance to minority students for their social and academic development. It facilitates financial support to the minority communities from Government agencies and other sources. This also helps them to enroll for career orientation programmes which would empower and equip them with the necessary skills for various career options.

Anti-Ragging Committee

Jesus & Mary College, has a zero tolerance policy towards ragging. The UGC Regulations 2007 mandated committee against Ragging consists of senior teachers and ensures compliance with the provisions of the UGC regulations / guidelines as well as the provisions of any law for the time being in force concerning ragging. The committee also monitors and oversees the performance of the Anti- Ragging squads in prevention of ragging in the college campus.

The first step in this direction being the Anti- Ragging Affidavit that every student and her parents need to sign right at time of admission.

Anti- Smoking/ Tobacco Committee

The Jesus & Mary College through the Anti- Smoking/ Tobacco Committee tries to create awareness amongst the students of the harmful effects of smoking, passive smoking and use of tobacco in general. Various campaigns against this evil are carried out on the campus throughout the academic session.

Smoking in the public places is prohibited and is a punishable offence. The Anti- smoking committee also ensures that the violators are brought to book.
